Manifesto
The Peace Rebellion: Montessori as Movement

Rooted in peace. Ready for change
We are not here to soften the realities of inequity. We are here to name them with honesty and meet them with courage.
Montessori education has always been a bold act—an act of preparing children for peace, independence, and justice in a fractured world. Yet too often, Montessori institutions shy away from the deeper work of equity, silence the urgency of justice, and adopt neutrality in the face of harm.
We affirm that education is the work of peace—and peace cannot exist without justice.
We commit to:
-
Uplifting Montessorians working at the intersections of racism, classism, ableism, and systemic inequities.
-
Addressing inequities in policy, hiring, curriculum, family engagement, and leadership practices.
-
Supporting the prepared adult—not just in pedagogy, but in courage, in well-being, and in action.
-
Creating learning spaces that honor truth, embrace complexity, and nurture transformation—for children and adults alike.
We are here to build, to protect, and to transform. This is Montessori as Movement.
Our Values
Our values run deep. We believe that Montessori and equity go hand-in-hand. We believe that we can only change the world when we create opportunities for ALL children to reach liberation.

Liberatory Montessori Practice
We uphold a high-fidelity Montessori approach not as tradition for tradition’s sake, but as a radical, child-centered path to liberation. Our pedagogy is preparation for peace, dignity, and systemic change.

Equity & Collective Opportunity
We believe every child—and every educator—deserves access to learning environments that nurture their potential, honor their identity, and expand what's possible for their future.

Revolutionary Solidarity
We reject isolation, elitism, and neutrality. Instead, we embrace community, action, and bold partnership. We stand with those doing the daily work of justice in classrooms, communities, and beyond.
