We envision state-funded Montessori academies in every state—accessible to children from all communities, free from the constraints of one-size-fits-all public education mandates, and built on a funding model proven to work. We are starting with Illinois and asking that they lead the way.
Montessori’s mission is to prepare children for a peaceful, equitable world. But peace cannot exist without justice — and justice cannot happen without adults who can recognize and dismantle bias.
Right now, many Montessori training programs treat anti-bias/anti-racist education as an optional add-on. This leaves a critical gap in educator preparation and fails to meet Montessori’s own vision of peace through education.
